31/07/2008 Lorient Achieves IFC Certification
Lorient has achieved yet another industry ‘first’, having been awarded IFC certification on a range of its seals. The award was made in June 2008, following an assessment visit by IFC staff. Lorient is the first seal manufacturer to receive this endorsement.
The certification covers a range of Lorient’s fireseals and combined smoke and fire seals which incorporates its 617 intumescent technology. This sodium silicate-based material, unique to Lorient, has been proven in numerous fire tests to give exceptional consistency and high performance in a range of applications, and thus is being increasingly adopted by door manufacturers as the preferred choice for their new product developments.
The purpose of IFC certification is to give an assurance of a company’s ability to maintain quality and traceability of its production. The IFC visit to Lorient involved an assessment of the products for compliance with IFC schedule SD13 for ‘Penetration and Linear Gap Seals’; as well as ensuring compliance with all relevant Standards, supported by an ongoing commitment to quality through the disciplines of BS EN ISO9001:2000.
All applicable products will now be marked with Lorient’s IFC Certification reference number FRPP454, alongside both the relevant CERTIFIRE and BBA references. Lorient also remains the only seal manufacturer to hold BBA certification.
